U.S basketball star Brittany greiner’s nine year prison sentence, for drug possession has been upheld by a court in Moscow .the White House is called the judicial procedure proceedings a sham. the 31 year old has been in custody since February this year . she was detained at an airport near Moscow . after cannabis oil Vape cartridges were found in her luggage .
Cannabis oil is illegal in Russia and her arrest came just a week before the country’s invasion of Ukraine. during her appeal hearing Greiner said, the nine-year sentence has been extremely stressful and traumatic. however the initial verdict was not overturned with the Russian State prosecutors ,calling the punishment Fair.
Greiner is set to serve the sentence in a penal colony Elizabeth root. Currently the most senior US Diplomat in Moscow has called the sentence excessive and disproportionate. in the case of US citizen Brittany Greiner , the appeals court made a site reduction in her sentence for time certain pre-trial detention, but otherwise did not change the excessive and disproportionate sentence of nine years in a penal colony.
