A Winter Heatwave In Europe | Climate Change

In Europe during the month of January,

temperatures tend to plummet to single

digits or even below zero degrees

Celsius. but this year countries across

Europe are experiencing record-breaking

January temperatures, it’s been called

the winter heat wave and Europeans

asking where is the snow.

according to weather experts at least

eight European countries have recorded

their warmest January day ever.

this includes Poland , Denmark, the

Netherlands ,Latvia, Lithuania, Belarus and

the Czech Republic.

climatologists are calling this an

extreme event unlike anything in

European history. in Poland thermometers

recorded 19 degrees Celsius a

temperature more commonly experienced in

May , and 18 degrees Celsius higher than

the one degree Celsius the country

annually averages for January.

in the Czech Republic the temperature is

usually around three degrees Celsius at

this time of year, but the country has

now recorded a temperature of

19.6 degrees Celsius.

in Germany almost 950 local records were

broken across the country at small

measuring Stations, between December 31st

and January 2nd.

in the south of France and Northern

Spain sweltered, the region sweltered

with the Mercury hitting almost 25

degrees Celsius.

scientists are still trying to work out

the real reason for the unseasonal

temperatures . according to a

meteorologist , Europe is now experiencing

such warm temperatures and that is due

to a massive warm air that has been

generated off the west coast of Africa.

which has now moved across Europe.

while another weather expert believes

that unusually warm sea surfaces might

also be the cause of the change in

temperature.

although what climate scientists are

sure of is that these anomalies,

and heat waves are going to continue to

become more and more frequent. all

because of global warming.
