Scientists Find New Disease In Wild Birds | Climate Change

Look around yourself you cannot miss the

sight of something that is made of

plastic, it might be a remote your mobile,

phone or even your pen. plastic is

everywhere it has become so common that

it is implicating the health of animals

and humans.

scientists have found a new disease in

wild birds caused solely by plastic

pollution.

term plastic horses the disease is

caused by small pieces of plastic

inflaming the digestive tract.

according to the study published in the

Journal of hazardous materials , plastic

pollution is becoming so prevalent that

the scarring was widespread across

different ages of birds . it is thought

that sea birds eat the plastic, when

fishing and then accidentally feed it

directly to their offsprings.

moreover researchers say that it is the

first recorded instance of specifically

plastic induced fibrosis in wild animals.

over time the persistent inflammation

scars or deforms the tissue, the birds

struggle to digest food and grow

properly affecting their ability to

survive.

the scientists noticed that birds that

had eaten more plastic had more scarring

in The Proven triculosis organ.

which is the first part of a bird’s

stomach, the disease can then lead to the

gradual breakdown of their

tubular glands in the organ, losing these

glands can cause the birds to become

more vulnerable to infections and also

parasites. affecting their ability to

digest food and absorb vitamins.

the scientists have studied only one

species of bird in one part of the world.

they believe it is likely that most

species are affected by plastic

pollution across the globe, and say more

researchers needed to find out how

widespread plasticosis is.

moreover they say that the exposure of

all organisms to plastic is inevitable.

as plastic emissions are increasing and

plastic pollution is becoming more

prevalent day by day.
