Cold Storm Slams California | Climate Change

After back-to-back winter storms all

around many of California’s Mountain

communities with snow, another round of

snowfall is headed to the Sierra Nevada

region and rains were recorded in The

Valleys. in the northern California

mountain roads were closed again as

winter storm made its way through the

State . Interstate 80 and several other

routes were shut down in the Lake Tahoe

area near the Nevada border . where the

California Highway Patrol says driving

conditions were treacherous amid

blizzard conditions.

according to the United States, where the

southeast the mountain region were put

under the winter storm warning as more

snow showers are expected throughout the

week . while in Northern California’s

Placer County

utility crews could be seen trying to

restore power lines and get electricity

turned on.

snow is kept building and this tree just

kept leaning more and more.

and then eventually it just it gave way

and

the power lines were holding it up .

they are experiencing no power, no water.

they have no access to the internet and

nothing and the officials from what

we’ve spoken to in the county officials

as well as calling the 2-1-1 they just

keep telling everyone to go online.

that’s how you’re going to get resources

but if they have no power or no internet

how are they supposed to access their

website.

meanwhile in San Bernardino Mountains

located in east of Los Angeles

authorities continue to walk to clear

roads as well as distribute food, water

and blankets to Residents stuck in the

blizzard stricken County.

now according to the San Bernardino

County official, around 79 percent of

County maintained roadways in the area

has has been made possible.

while the record rain and snowfall in

recent weeks has disrupted the life of

Californians on the other hand, the

winter storm has eased half of

California out of a persistent drought

and bolstered the straw of Mountain snow.

which the state relies on to provide

water during the warm dry spring and

summer . now according to the California

Department of Water Resources , there was

nearly twice as much snow in the Sierra

Nevada mountains as it is typical for

the month of March. the snow was also

dense and wet meaning that it held

nearly 170 percent of the typical amount

of water for this time of the year . the

winter storm comes as a blessing in

disguise for California as the snow park

is considered California’s largest

Reservoir.

it is vital to fill streams and lakes as

it slowly melts , the government agency

says the storm has dramatically lessened

California’s ongoing drought.
