With a selection that includes a totally electric powertrain in addition to PHEV and diesel options, the new Ford Tourneo brand of vans debuts in Europe. Midway through 2023, deliveries start. With an expressive and sculptural style that will appeal to both high-end businesses and individual consumers, the all-new Tourneo Custom makes a bold statement on the road. The car has a grounded and sturdy image because to its increased front and rear visual width and assured stance. The front-end design conveys the solid capabilities that supports the Tourneo brand while also being vibrant and inviting.
The all-electric E-Tourneo Custom’s innovative grille treatment, along with very striking LED lighting and a characteristic full-width graphic, highlight its technology and performance. The interior of the car maintains the beautiful yet functional design, and the elegant two- or three-seat front cabin provides a substantial advancement in technology and comfort, with premium materials and tidy, modern surfaces. A 13-inch touchscreen with the SYNC 4 entertainment system is ergonomically placed on the instrument panel. With wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity as standard, this works in conjunction with the new digital instrument cluster to offer an intuitive, driver-focused cockpit. Tourneo’s vehicles must serve as mobile living places and offices to accommodate their customers’ busy lifestyles, and Tourneo Custom provides the same creative tilting steering wheel that was recently revealed in the new E‑Transit Custom.
The practical, class-exclusive feature may be folded flat to create a handy table or used as an ergonomic device holder for laptops and tablets. The van’s new electric model is called the E-Tourneo. Its battery has a usable capacity of 74 kilowatt hours, giving it an estimated 370 km of range. 215 horsepower are produced by the electric motor. According to Ford, the EV is capable of hauling 2,000 kg. The E-Tourneo charges at 11 kW AC and 125 kW when using fast charging in the DC system. According to Ford, a fast charger can refuel the van 38 kilometres or charge it from 15 to 80 percent capacity in just 41 minutes. The Tourneo’s plug-in hybrid engine combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder operating on the Atkinson-cycle with another electrified drivetrain.
An estimated 50 kilometres of electric driving range are provided by the 11.8 kWh battery. There is also a diesel engine available. Buyers can choose between an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual transmission and outputs of 134 horsepower, 148 horsepower, and 168 horsepower. Ford offers an all-wheel-drive option for the automatic Tourneo Custom and a mechanical limited-slip differential at the front axle as an option for individuals who need greater traction. Fort Otosan in Kocaeli, Turkey, manufactures the Ford Tourneo Custom line. The first deliveries in Europe are anticipated to begin in the middle of 2023 with the diesel-powered versions, with further variants following later in the year.
