Climate Change | Peru faces freezing temperatures

In our show , every day we

talk about how climate change is

impacting the world . the climate crisis

is real in Peru. the situation is

particularly worrying,

freezing temperatures are being recorded

in Central and Southern parts of the

country . this is impacting the livelihood

of a lot of people who are dependent on

agriculture and livestock to sustain

themselves.

it’s not only the people who are facing

the Wrath of the freezing temperatures.

according to local federations , the cold

has resulted in the deaths of at least

500 alpacas in the last weeks. and

according to the regional Federation of

alpacara’s women, this year the total

number of animals who were affected by

climate change is estimated to stand at

25

000.

we are worried because we live off

alpacas, we have no other income and more

than half of alpacas have died . I don’t

know how we are going to survive.

this has led to the affected communities

to requests for immediate intervention

of the regional and National authorities.

and to declare a state of emergency in

the Andean region of Peru.

we ask for the national government to

declare an emergency , we hope that the

national government will immediately

declare the crisis in the sector, not

only in one cup of liquor but also in

the regions via kucho apurimac Bruno

Cusco in all the areas that are

dedicated to camel farming.
