The airline has already started assessing its Chinese business branches and airport services in order to be ready for the rise in passenger traffic.

Beginning the following week, Korean Air will restart service to China and enhance frequency, the airline announced on Friday. Over the next months, more flights will be added, reaching over 100 weekly trips by the summer.
The announcement comes after an agreement between China and Korea to increase flying frequency to levels last seen before the outbreak at the beginning of the month. Demand for foreign travel has increased since the majority of border restrictions were relaxed late last year, but officials decided to maintain limitations on flights between Korea and China due to the coronavirus’s growth in China.

According to the airline, the number of weekly flights between Korea and the mainland of China would rise from 13 to 84 by the end of March and to 99 by the end of May. In March/April and May/June 2019, the carrier’s China routes would have 38% and 43% more weekly flights than usual.

The airline will resume seven operations, including two from its other hub at Gimpo International Airport and five from its hub in Seoul, Incheon International Airport. Flights to Beijing, Xian, Shenzhen, Yanji, and Xiamen resume from Incheon. Additionally, flights to Beijing and Shanghai restart from Gimpo. (Hongqiao).
The Incheon-Beijing service will launch on March 19 with four weekly flights, according to the airline.
Three additional flights each week will be added beginning on March 26. There will be eight flights each week by May. Beginning on March 26th, flights between Gimpo and Beijing and Gimpo and Shanghai (Hongqiao) will run seven times per week.
On March 17, the Incheon-Xian service is scheduled to launch. Up until the first week of May, there will be two flights every week; after that, there will be seven. Beginning on March 26th, there will be four weekly flights between Incheon and Shenzhen, and by May, there will be seven.

Seven weekly flights will begin this month on the Incheon-Yanji route, and three weekly flights will commence on the Incheon-Xiamen route on May 2.
