Ohio Faces Environmental Problems

Panic and pessimism continues to haunt

residents in the American state of Ohio,

weeks after a train containing toxic

chemicals derailed there ..experts say

that much remains unknown or the dangers

posed to Residents by the overtime. the

explosion triggered the release of toxic

fumes, which led the residents and

observers to question the health impacts

of the toxic materials , that are spilled

into the Ohio river, and has also renewed

focus on the U.S Railway industry’s

loosening of safety gnomes and

requirements over time.

but how did the train derail on the

night of February 3rd , at least 50 out of

150 coaches of a train heading from

Conway Pennsylvania to Madison Illinois.

derailed in the small town of East

Palestine in Ohio and as part of various

reports a mechanical issue with an axle

is believed to be the cause behind the

derailment.

look at these visuals just before the

accident happened , surveillance footage

captured from a factory appeared to show

the trains undercarriage overheating.
residents were forced to evacuate

when the trail operated by Norfolk

Southern derailed,
it caused a fire that

sent a cloud of smoke over the town of

East Palestine in Ohio , even though

residents have returned they have

complained of headaches and irritated

eyes and noted the chickens, fish and

other Wildlife have died. residents are

worried especially about quality of

water.

water is the big thing here right now,

everybody is wanting water they don’t

want to drink the water , they don’t want

to give it to their animals you know

whoever comes in from the community.

they’re getting the first case of water

free and then um up to three other cases

of water will be at our cost at two

dollars , and it’s just to help out

because you know some people are leery

about the water right now.

despite these concerns States Health

officials have insisted to Residents,

that East Palestine is a safe place to

be . they say that a plume of pollution in

the Ohio river is moving at one mile per

hour , another thing they say is that

cities in the plumes path can turn off

their drinking water intakes . as it

floats by these officials have assured

that drinking water tests have not

raised concerns , and normal water

treatment would remove any small amounts

of contaminants that may exist . whereas

according to the Ohio Department of

Natural Resources it estimates , The Spill

has affected more than seven miles of

streams and killed approximately 44000

fish mostly small ones.

so in conclusion the investigation has

concluded that of the seven and a half

mile impacted area.

species were killed over a five mile

span , and this that the total area of

impact runs from the train derailment

site near sulfur run,

through Leslie run to our Bull Creek

flows into the North Fork of Little

Beaver Creeks . the total number we

arrived at is is a little over 43000.

so 43785 aquatic species, the department

reached the calculation after removing

dead fish from four save sites across

the affected area , although according to

the department none of the species

affected a threatened odd endangered and

that fish are beginning to return to the

rivers and streams in the area.
