There is not always gloom and doom on
the climate front . conservationists in
the United Kingdom are celebrating, they
are happy about the return of Europe’s
heaviest flying birds . the great bastard
is back on grasslands of Southern
England, for the first time in a century,
and a half famed for being the heaviest
flying birds in Europe. males can weigh
up to 22 kg . the great bastard was hunted
to Extinction in Britain in the late
19th century ,but now, it’s back all
because of a successful conservation
effort.
this is a tremendous success story , a
feral percentage of that group out there
are Wiltshire bread , Wiltshire hatched
and parent reading , I mean they’re real
wild birds.
their remarkable return is down to what
I see reintroduction program, and there
are now up to 100 Birds on Salisbury
Plains in Wilshire. more than 20 years A
T for more than 20 years a team of
volunteers has been working on breeding
the great bastards. after collecting eggs
from endangered nests in Russia and
Spain, they found a record number of
nests last year ,and Waters hope that the
breeding population the UK is capable of
sustaining itself.
