The Great Pacific Garbage Patch

Plastic pollution is a growing problem

in our world today , every year millions

of tons of plastic is produced and

discarded with only a tiny fraction

being reclaimed recycled. this means that

much of the plastic actually ends up in

our oceans, polluting the water and also

endangering marine life.

in the United States 500 billion plastic

bags and 35 billion plastic water

bottles are used every single year.

an average American throws away over 80

kilograms of plastic annually and the

environmental impact is just astounding.

the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is an

environmental disaster that has been

growing now for decades. it is a massive

collection of garbage mostly plastic,

that is accumulated in the oceans . that

is now believe it or not twice the size

of Texas . it is estimated that the

garbage contains up to 1.8 trillion

pieces of debris.

and also there are signs of relief as

the co-founder of Airbnb has now donated

about 35 million dollars to the ocean

cleanup to support the non-profit

efforts to remove plastic from the

world’s oceans and rivers . the ocean

cleanup team’s most recent calculations

show that , deploying 10 barrier systems

based on the system 003 design would be enough to capture

all 100 000 tons of plastic floating in

the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. they

should also improve a cleanup of

efficiency and also the cost per

kilogram of waste collected . the brand

new style of course makes significant

impact on reducing the amount of plastic

pollution in our oceans.
