
Despite having only 4 electric models in its lineup, Tesla nonetheless managed to outsell all of its premium brand rivals by a significant margin.
For the first time ever, Tesla has surpassed BMW in sales to take the top spot among luxury automakers in the USA.

Reports state that the electric car manufacturer registered 484,351 new vehicles in 2022, a 41% increase from 2021. BMW, on the other hand, reported a 5.3% decline in sales, totaling 327,929 vehicles. Mercedes-Benz finished third last year with 269,511 vehicles, which is in line with rumours about its sales projections for 2021.

Also, according to reports, the number of new luxury vehicle registrations dropped by 3.5% last year to little over 2 million units.
Despite having only 4 electric models in its lineup, Tesla nonetheless managed to outsell all of its premium brand rivals by a significant margin. BMW and Mercedes-Benz sold 14,000 and 11,500 EVs only in 2022, respectively.

Although some people question whether Tesla counts as a luxury automaker, the cost of its model portfolio seems to support the label.
